Fundraising Drive For Pilon Airport

Fundraising for an airport in Pilon to serve the area of Pavones, Costa Rica, now begins in earnest.

Community activist Vela Miles has established a fund at Banco Nacional de Costa Rica for the benefit of the Aeropuerto Rancho del Mar.

With Ms. Miles at the helm, and promising to publish the banking statements, the community has assurances that funds will be wisely used, for their stated purpose, and with transparent reporting to the public.

Added 3/30/2011 -- You can also contribute labor -- time and sweat. If you are an employer, you can donate man-hours.

Vela Miles will be publicly sharing bank statements for this account.  When provided, we will publish the bank statements on this blog.

In the past, airport donations made to other parties lacked transparency and accountability, and were reportedly diverted for other purposes.

In March, we wrote about the Municipality's disclosure (or insistence) that Pavones pays for the ongoing maintenance of the airstrip area until such time as the Civil Aviation Ministry formally accepts the airport plan.
